A: "Respects" is more of a feeling towards something, example being: "This dictionary deserves my respect!"
This dictionary is one that I view as good / high quality in this situation.
It doesn't sound natural to say "respects." (I don't think anyone says that in this kind of situation)

A: Using print dictionaries takes time. OR It takes time to find words using print dictionaries.
Q: I found in the dictionary that 'fence' as a verb has the meaning of 'receiving stolen goods', what does it mean? Like buying stolen goods from a burglar?
A: yes. it's slang. "he stole watches and fenced them on the street."

according to Wikipedia: A fence (noun) is an individual who knowingly buys stolen property for later resale, sometimes in a legitimate market. The fence thus acts as a middleman between thieves and the eventual buyers of stolen goods who may not be aware that the goods are stolen.

As a verb, the word describes the behaviour of the thief in the transaction: "The burglar fenced the stolen radio."

This sense of the term came from thieves' slang, first attested c. 1700, from the notion of such transactions taking place under defence of secrecy.

-------------

so i guess fence (noun) is slang short for deFENCE of secercy.

a fence (noun) doesn't ask questions about where you got something or how you got it. either he wants to make a deal or not.

in my experience, this use of the word is rare. the places i've heard was almost always in detective dramas and some scenes involving people talking about the sale of stolen goods.

I have a good feeling recently because I find "Hifive"
sembra naturale?
A: I understand what you are saying, but you could put this instead to get your point across:

I am interested in modern Japanese, but I am still learning how to speak and write English. I have to use a dictionary and Webilo to help me, but Hifive is giving me hope that I can become good with English.
Q: When I need refer to an English dictionary, I'm often using Oxford Dictionaries( http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/ ) and Cambridge Dictionaries Online( http://dictionary.cambridge.org/ ). I use them mainly in order to distinguish synonyms. But sometimes their illustrative sentences are too abstract and incomprehensive for me. I know I still don't understand some concepts in English which are unfamiliar in Japanese, but at the same time, I suspect that those sites have only insufficient contents for their free usage on the Internet. Is the quality of those sites' contents good for English learners like me?
A: It's a great resource! If you want to look more into synonyms/antonyms check out thesaurus.com. I use it all the time.
