I'm not sure how hot and how cool in Vancouver summer. I'm taking 3 little daughters without my husband. I'm trying to make my baggage as small as I can. So ... please give me your advice.
  • Is Forest a strange name in English? Hello everyone, I have a question about my new English name. I’m wondering if “Forest” is a strange name in English. The thing is like this: I’m going to Canada to study for one year, and I will also try to look for a job and live there after graduation. So I’m considering to give myself a formal English name. My Chinese name Lin sounds like “forest” (in Chines), and I like Forrest Gump, so I use Forest as my nickname in Chinese social network. I’ve check some English name lists in which Forest is actually a name, but I’ve never known anyone who named Forest in English movies or books. So I’m not sure if Forest sounds a little weird as a formal English name. (No offence to those who named Forest if there are.) That’s why I’d like to ask your opinions, please be honest. Thank you. Or if you can give me any suggestion about other English names, I will appreciate a lot.

  • Hello! I have more questions this time. ; ) 1. Can Canadians tell Americans by their appearance such as hair style, fashion style, make-up style and etc? In general, are there any notable differences in fashion/hair/make-up styles between Canadians and Americans? (If I were asked the same kind of question, I would answer, Koreans can tell Japanese people and Chinese people by appearance, not 100% perfectly though, probably around 70%.) 2. Canada and America share several things in common, but I know that they're very different in many aspects at the same time. In my opinion, one of the most distinct differences between the two countries would be Canada emphasizes the concept of "the mosaic", whereas America is known as "a melting pot". So, I'm curious if Canadian students pledge allegiance to the national flag in school. 3. I know this is a bit vague question, but when it comes to 'national characteristics', how are Canadians different in general as compared to Americans? Thank you! :)
  • Hello everyone, I'm from Iran and my major is nursing, I was wondering if I emigrate to Canada, can I be an English teacher? I'm not a native English speaker but I like this job and I think I can teach basic and elementary learners . do you think it's easy for me to be a teacher? and do the institutes need me or do they recruit me ? what degree should I have? I'm confused about my future (in order to be a nurse in Canada I have to study 2 years ) but my favourite job is being a teacher(unfortunately I don't have any degree in this field).

  • I think I met an annoying boomer in Canada .. Or you guys think it's just a normal elderly people's behavior to far younger people than themselves ? Anyway, I took the flight (Aircanada) and I asked her "Can I borrow a pen please?" cuz I had to fill in the paper about the covid symptoms to submit at Korean airport, and she said "You should never take the flight without a pen!". Well, her tone sounded like my grandmother to me. not so rude but I think it's inappropriate. And I was dumbfounded, so I said " oh.. ok sorry" and she said "Didn't your mom tell you that?" I didn't what to respond to that ahahaha . I was like "???" and she started laughing like she made a joke and said "I will bring you the pen. wait a second " . But!! she gave me the pen saying "Just keep the pen. you don't need to give me back". And I thought she is not that bad person (cuz her saying upset me earlier haha) and I just said "thank you".

  • Travelling abroad helps to understand your own country: (topic) Nowadays people are getting more and more concerned about travel is an important thing in their life. A lot of people from different countries are traveling right this second. They meet with other people around the world. But how can it help to know your own country? Let’s tries to understand it. In my opinion, if you don’t travel, you won’t realize your own country. When you see another country, you begin to notice some differences between it and your motherland. It helps you to understand the advantages and disadvantages of living in your own country. It is undeniable. Furthermore, one should not forget that when you meet with foreign people you can see a difference with people from your country.
However, some people think that first, you should explore your own country thoroughly before visiting other ones.
I am afraid I cannot agree with the opinion that you have to explore your own country first. To my mind, you’ll feel your own country when you can compare it with another one. So it’s up to you to decide whether to travel to another country to know your own country or explore your own country thoroughly before visiting other ones. All in all, I think that that traveling is a really exciting activity and a very useful thing if you want to know your own country! Hiya! What's poppin? Can you dude check my essay and can you show me my mistakes? Thank you, guys! Have a good one!
  • What kinds of bacon do you have in Canada? The British have six kinds of bacon: back, throughcut, streaky, smoked, green, and dry cured. In the US we have one kind of bacon - bacon - which is similar to what the British call "streaky bacon". Oh, and we can get "Canadian bacon" on our pizza, which is similar to what the British call "back bacon". So what kinds of bacon do you have in Canada, and what do you mean if you just say "bacon"?

It depend on personal choice, of course, but for example, if someone having tattoo on his or her arm (not small) want to be a public school teacher in Canada, is it okay? to students and their parents, to colleague and to boss etc. Honestly, as a Korean, I have some prejudice and stereotype on it.
