Really different than the American ones:
- phones are not allowed
- we can’t eat during class (I don’t think everyone does that but I saw some doing it when I went to the US)
- we usually have longer days, we finish at 4:30 pm or 5:30
- we can’t choose our classes
About teachers, I found that American teachers were friendlier than French ones, I remember some students hugging their teachers or asking them if they had spent a good weekend, which would never happened in France as we have more of a formal relationship with them. They teach us what they have to teach and that’s all, we don’t « become friends » with them. Of course there are always French teachers that are so nice and are joking with their students, but not the majority of them.

Hum... I want to add my point of view to @ImaneFromFrance 's answer.
Phones were allowed in my middle and high school. We were just not allowed to use it during class. I had one or two teachers that asked us to put them on a box during the class but it was rare. We can't eat during class, but some teachers are ok if we just drink some water. And yes, we have really long day and can't choose our classes.
I had some teachers really serious and cold, but some others really kind that listened to me when I had a problem, don't hesitated to chat during inter-courses and at my last year in high school my philosophy teacher organized a pizza party with some other teachers and all my class. It was really fun ! Even if I'm at university now, we always smile and talk a little when we see each other.
But in an other way, I had really bad experiences with my sport teachers, because they were part of my harassment. Instead of punishing those who had fun of me, one of them was openly made fun of me. An other one insulted me and pushed me to the pool even if I was crying. I'm not going to write all my little misfortunes, but I wanted to show you how much it's not perfect at all in France.
Sooo I can't tell if french teachers are ok or not. Some are kind, some are stupids. That's all.
