From your question, I’m assuming that both Mowgli and Bagheera are females. (I’ve never read the book.)
In both sentences, “she” can be unclear. Is “she” Mowlgi, or is “she” Bagheera? Unless you know which “she” they are talking about, there can be some confusion.
“Mowgli did as she told” could imply that Mowgli was told to do something by someone else and Mowgli did it, but it could also imply that Mowgli told someone to do something and Mowgli also did it.
Ex:
“Mowgli did what Mowgli said to do.”
“Mowgli did as she was told” implies that Mowgli was told to do something by someone else and Mowgli did it.
Ex:
“Mowgli did what Bagheera said.”
The “was” adds clarity.

They meant “he” not “she”
Mowgli did as ‘he’ was told.
So he did what Bagheera told him to do.
He obeyed Bagheera’s instructions.

Mowgli did as he was told.
If you were to say:
Mowgli did as he told, than ‘he’ would be referring to Bagheera.
Confusing, right?
Don’t worry, English gets easier.

I was saying that they used a website similar to this to pronounce the words, it does not sound natural.
Sometimes it messes up words. I wouldn’t use that YouTube channel or any websites like the one I showed you.
