I was given the following question and answer:
Q: あそこはどこですか。(Where is that place?)
A: あそこは教室です。 (That place over there is the classroom.)
Are my translations correct? To me, this answer seems like it shouldn't work with the question asked.
Would a better question be: あそこは何ですか？

@AH123 Hmm あそこはどこですか sounds a little weird. If you said あそこはどこですか, it could mean "Do you know where the place/room (I/you/someone mentioned before) is?" and the following answer would be like あの部屋は二階にあります.(That room is on the second floor)

All of these questions sound natural and mean almost same!
