I'm going to meet this girl from Japan. She's the same age as me but we haven't talked to each other AT ALL. No phone calls no emails, nothing.

When we meet how should I talk to her? Formally in formally?

Well.. I think for the first 2-3 minutes, you could speak formally, and ask her if you could speak more casually because you are the same age. I bet she would say yes, then there you go. :)
