Do people in Quebec actually say "double-double" when they want to order a double cream, double sugar coffee?

I actually tried saying it and the cashier seemed to get it. But I wonder if this is something a normal Quebeker would say.

Also, I couldn't quite catch the phrase when the cashier asks me how I would like the coffee. Any idea?

No, double double is not something that sounds natural in french but since ppl are most of the time bilingual in Quebec, the person understood what you meant! In french you have to say the whole thing; "deux crèmes deux sucres".

The cashier might have asked you: "comment prenez-vous votre café?" Or "comment voulez-vous votre café?" Or even "on met quoi dans votre café?" There are many ways!

I generally say "deux-deux" in French instead of "double-double" and I sometimes hear "qu'est-ce qu'on met dans votre café?" Although it's a bit colloquial 😉

I lived in Quebec for quite some time and plenty of times I have heard "double, double" although, said in the French way, sounds similar to "dew-bleh, dew-bleh".

Having worked at McDonald's for a couple of years I can tell you that I don't think I've ever heard someone say "double double" in French, but "deux deux" and "trois trois" are quite common. "Bonjour, je vais vous prendre un grand deux-deux s'il vous plait!" almost sounds too familiar XD
