Education is necessarily concerned with positive end results which vary from age to age from one community to another. The conception and function of education is dependent upon the nature of the society in which it plays a part, and is determined by the philosophy which governs the relations between the individual and the society. There is thus no theory of education which may be regarded as carrying fixed authority. Therefore, each community is faced with the problem of establishing a theory of education in relation to the "here and now" of political, economic and social life.
