How many vacations are there for schools in Japan? E.g. Summer Vacation.
Or mainly days off from school.

I suppose that most schools have 3 long vacations: spring, summer and winter. the period depends on each school

Unlike Western countries like Canada, the calendar year of Japan begins at April 1st. (And ends at March 31st.) So, for Japanese, summer vacation is a mere short break. Since it's been only 4 month since the beginning. Office workers can take only 7~10 days off in the middle of August. (Do you know a religious event called "Bon"?)
Unlike them, students can take much longer vacation. From elementary school to high school, the summer vacation begins at the end of July and ends August 31st. As for university students, their vacation is even longer. it ends at the end of September.
I heard Canada has 3 months long summer vacation. I think it's because summer is the best season for Canadians. In exchange for it, almost no winter vacation exists?
