It depends on the region.

In the South and Midwest, foods are often fattening but very delicious. The best are breakfast foods, like grits with butter, fried ham, biscuits with gravy or jelly (homemade jelly is the best!), and bacon.

In Louisiana, gumbo, jumbalaya, and seafoods are popular, especialy crawfish, and foods can be really spicy. Beignets are also incredibly beloved.

The North (like New York) tends to be the best for pizza and bagels, and family owned restaurants from immigrants can be better than large companies.

Pennsylvania Amish people are apparently really good at making baked goods.

Gravy is a sauce made from the juices of cooked meat that's thickened with flour.
Grits are basically boiled cornmeal, but I promise it's really good, especially when you put butter, cheese, meat, or whatever other things like that in it.
