Which is more attractive to Italians: pale or tanned skin? Is there a clear preference between them (for the majority of people)?

And if it isn't clear: I'm talking about white people. White Italians and white foreigners.

I'm curious about this subject because pale skin seems to be considered unattractive in some western countries and I'd like to know if Italians also think so.

I mean, here in Italy people like to be tanned but it’s almost a summer thing. During winter or fall I think very few people do care about your skin, especially in the Northern Italy many Italians have pretty pale skin. Having tanned skin is a sign of you coming back from vacation. I think that’s the only attractive thing you can notice about someone who’s tanned.

Tanned skin but, I think it depends :D a tanned skin means Thant you are coming back from your vacation, and maybe that’s why we like it.. but for example I’m a really pale person XD

Hi! Between a tanned skin and a pale skin I prefer the pale one. But the majority likes tanned skin.

Italians generally like to be tanned. I personally don't like it ...lying in the sun like a lizard it s not my thing. But especially in the south we tend to have darker skin.. and just few minutes in the sun give us an even darker skin tone..by this I mean is not always a choice to be tanned😅

@martasick tanned skin looks nice just like pale skin. Also, I wouldn't say tanned skin looks healthier. Tanning in the sun results in dead skin. You can do your research.

@martasick A tan is actually dead skin, so you don't look "healthier." Health depends on the person, not on the skin tone.

Starting 2019, the tan trend is dying because of Tik Tok stars that are pale. Atleast in my experience, people are caring less about being tan so it really won't matter later on.

@_Gaby_ @Starsalign well, I would have apologised for not saying "in my opinion", then thought that if you cared so much about the litteral sense of words you would have at least noticed that I used the word "look" instead of "are". Pale skin is in some cases connected to anemya, and in many cases being paler than your average skin colour is not a sign of health. OF COURSE (is it even necessary to go in such detail?) it's an irrational connection the brain makes that has nothing to do with your clinical records. TO ME tanned people look healthy. They may be on the point of dying the day after, it's irrational, it's just like when you buy coke on a hot day when you're thirsty in spite of the fact it will make you thirstier. Got it?
