Hello everyone, please I have a question:
Can I also use this form "had been + past participle ( -ed )" in the Past Perfect ?
For example: " I had not ' been ' prepar + ' ed ' for this. "
It's incorrect form but how can I rewrite this sentence correctly, and without using "wasn't prepared" (to keep the relevance of the subject of the sentence until the present moment) ?
All I know is that we only use "had been + gerund ( -ing )" (Past Perfect Continuous), when we need to talk about an action that had a duration in the past and then was finished.
I appreciate all the help and sorry for any mistake!

haven't= have+not
"I haven't prepared for this."
^
you didn't prepare for this situation
"I haven't been prepared for this."
^ someone else, like your teacher, hasn't helped to you to prepare for the situation
"I'm not prepared" say in the situation directly to the person you are speaking to.
"i haven't prepared for this" is more formal

Wait, can you explain why you say this is incorrect?
"I had not been prepared for this" is good. Often it's used with the contraction "hadn't" for "had not"
e.g.
I hadn't been prepared for this, but luckily it turned out fine.
I hadn't been planning to go to the store, but I decided to go and pick up some more veggies for this evening.

@echak
I'd seen in a website that "had + been + ed" is wrong and we only use had + ed, without 'been' in the middle and then I was in doubt, but thank you for the help !
