One of the most poignant plays I have seen was All My Dreams Were Left Behind. The plot depicts one of the most sorrow realities of many Colombian people, the forced displacement of many peasant families.
The story began with a family who lived in a knick-knot village. There they did not have concerns. Not only did they have their crops, but also education opportunities. Nevertheless, one day, an armed group compelled them to leave their land, without anything more than their clothes. No sooner had they arrived at the city than their problems began. Throughout the story, a myriad of setbacks are displayed. For instance, they had neither a place where they could stay at night nor resources to purchase food. What is more, they had to work in inhuman conditions to earn their livelihood. In addition, they feel divergent attitudes towards them. Whereas some people try to give any kind of help, others were disrespectful and discriminate them. To summarize they have to overcome a plethora of hindrances.
The reason I would recommend you watch this play is because it is based on real facts. Were you to acknowledge the fact that this is commonplace in our country, you would try to be more helpful and condescendent to give a hand to the people in need.
As far as the rating of this play, it goes without saying that seldom do we see that this kind of topics are tackled in a play, inasmuch as on many occasions people prefer watching more hilarous contends than the horrendous reality. Having said that, such great a job did the director and cast of the play that I can assure you that never before have I seen such a gripping play. There is no denying the fact that the more you watch the play, the more conscious you will become of the reality of many people.
