Not that I know of. When I was taught how to spell, our teacher would just let us know whenever there was a letter that wasn’t pronounced.

no rules for that. you can pronounce each letter but that will be weird a little for russians

I also think it’s funny that the л is silent in солнце but you would say it in солнечный (adjective form of солнце). Lol

I'd say there are no many words with silent letters.
The most often used of them are numerals:
11 од`инна(д)цать=[ад`инацать]
12 двен`а(д)цать
...
16 шес(т)на(д)цать=[шесн`ацать]
...
19 девятна(д)цать
дв`а(д)цать, тр`и(д)цать, пя(ть)дес`ят, шес(ть)дес`ят
600 шестьсот -[шесс`от]

the silent letter is pronuonced in derived words.
e.g. солнце (л is silent) - солнышко (л is pronounced)
здравствуйте (в is silent) - здоровье (в is pronounced)
But it doesn't work for some words in modern language (but it used to work for the old east-slavic language, that maybe can be seen in modern Ucrainian and Belarus), e.g. лестница with silent т.
I think for foreigners who don't speak Slavic languages it's better to memorize every such word.
