I looked this up. There doesn't appear to be an agreed origin. The common answer I found. A ship is metaphorically like a mother. She protects and cares for the crew, like a mother does her child.

Haha no. Sometimes in English certain things like ships, countries, or even ideas (like liberty, ie lady liberty) will be personified as people, usually women. It may be considered sexist now-a-days.

No. It has its basis in old times I’m pretty sure.

Here are three articles that should explain it. It honestly seems like there isn’t one answer to your question, but maybe if you look at the articles you can find an answer that answers your question best.

Referring to objects as ”he” or ”she” is becoming obsolete, but it's simply a remnant of Latin, Indo-European and Germanic language influence. If you look at things that were predominantly male, like driving cars, being in the Navy, or ruling nations, a lot of those things were referred as ”she.”

@SheaW Thank you for teaching me that!
I was not sure that many ones are called 'she', and it is related with a social problem.

@COASTBC Thank you for finding an answer all the way!
Your explanation reminds me a similar example.
A carrier is called 空母(kubo)in Japan.
空母 is used kanji 母(a mother).
I guess it has the same origin.😁

@Laurent_Le Thank you for your explanation!
I see the historical influence.
The word is used in some of films, such as ' the Pirates of the Caribbean' and ' Star Trec'.
I've got interested in it.😉
