「七転び八起き」（ななころびやおき）

日本の数字の読み方は
１＝いち　２＝に　３＝さん　４＝よん　５＝ご　６＝ろく　７＝なな　８＝はち　９きゅう　１０＝じゅう
が標準なんですが、少し古い読み方として
１＝ひ　２＝ふ　３＝み　４＝よ　５＝いつ　６＝む　７＝なな　８＝や　９＝この　１０＝とう
という読み方もあります。

「七転び八起き」は昔からある成句なのと、言葉のリズムがいいので「ななころびやおき」と八を「や」と読みます。

This is the difference in how numbers are called.

イチ.二.サン.シ.ゴ.ロク.ナナ.ハチ....
ひとつ、ふたつ、みっつ、よっつ、いつつ、むっつ、ななつ、やっつ.....
の「ハチ」と「や」です。
「や」は 「やっつ」の短縮形(Shortened form)です。
