Domande Giapponese
In a book I'm reading, it contains this sentence:
"'死んだ' とは、サマンサというひとりの人間が生きていたということだ。"
I'm having trouble understanding it. I know the verbs and nouns and such, but the general phrasing - how it would come together to make sense in English - is what I'm having trouble getting. Please and thank you!

"'死んだ'/とは、サマンサ/という/ひとりの/人間が/生きていた/ということだ。"
might not be exact translation.
Her death means Samantha was living as a person.
basically it means she couldn't die if she weren't alive, and by that it's paying respect to her life perhaps.
- Giapponese
死んだ means ひとりの人間 whose name is サマンサ+ が生きていた
