Does this line sound natural to you: “I don't wanna' be somebody, just wanna' be me.”?

This is from a Korean song, so I think the way it's worded is a little bit unnatural.
What do you think? 🤔

Yup I would say it’s sounds good for spoken English.Since it is in a song, there is some grammatical errors. If we wanted to sound perfect it would be, “I don’t want to be somebody else, I just want to be me.” Let me know if you’re still confused I’ll be happy to break it down more ( :

Your sentence is an excellent example of an informal phrase. Congratulations! The only mistakes I saw is you've put this " ' " next to "wanna", and that symbol shouldn't be there, and this suggestion is for any verb that you want to use. Despite this, I can't say anymore, is correct, only delete that

@kwonstar Oh, that's interesting. Is it okay to omit the word “else” after “somebody” in spoken English? I know about 'wanna', it's a very popular slang for 'want to', but the sentence looked weird to me without the word “else” after somebody, that's why I thought it sounded unnatural, even we consider it's just colloquial language 😊

I would say I don't wanna be somebody else, I just wanna be me. Remember wanna is not a real word, it is short for 'want to'.

I think in a song its ok but else is much more natural

@sallykr like in Korean, English speakers want to convey their point with as minimal words as possible. People will still understand you if you state just somebody without else as it’s implied you are already speaking about “somebody else”. Hopefully this makes sense!
