Slide:
A forceful movement, where you are controlling the movement.
Example: When you slide a paper to your friend, you use force to control the paper’s movement, so the paper moves straight toward your friend.
Glide:
A graceful or smooth movement.
Example: You can think about the paragliding sport. The movement of the people who paraglide is smooth and graceful in the sky.
Slip:
A sudden movement.
Example: When you step on ice and then fall. The action of you falling is a sudden movement. It can be said that you slipped on ice, or that the ice made you slip.
Skim:
A fast movement.
Example: When you read a book fast to look for the main idea, but not pay attention to the details. You skimmed through the book. You read through the book fast.
