@luckyall hm, I think “from what I gather” sounds recent. If you read about the topic a long time ago, it’s more natural to start with, “from what I remember about quantum mechanics...”

@luckyall it’s basically the same as “from what I understand”. It does sound like you got information from a few different resources, but not necessarily research. Like if you read a couple of articles in the newspaper or in a magazine, and talked to a few different people, you could say “from what I can gather” before you summarize what you understand. I think “from what I understand” sounds like it could be a summary of one source, or multiple sources.
