Domande Danese
Ferocious beast.
Ferocious beast.
I am reading a book about some aspects of medieval scandinavian culture. And there was mentioned the concept of "ferocious beast" which is a fixed expression in Old Icelandic (óarga (úarga) dýr) and even in Russian. But the closest I´ve found in Danish was "skrækkeligt dyr". Is there any fixed expression for the quintessential beast somehow important metaphorically?

I have thought a bit about this, and I think your translation is pretty good. I could not really come to think of any fixed expression we use. To most danes, the quintessential beast may just be the wolf i guess. But I think your 'skrækkeligt dyr' is pretty good, and usable in this context.
