For Kpop: IU, BTS, Epik High (Not sure if they are fully considered pop but..) are my go-to‘s. A weird tip but a way to discover good music is to watch Kdramas and listen to the OST’s. Some OST’s I loved were the ones from Boys Over Flowers, Winter Sonata, and Princess Hours (All, Classic, Old Drama favorites). This helps immerse yourself in the language and understand recent Korean history through fun shows. They can be cliche but it’s oh so fun. Solo artists that I enjoy are Lee Sora, Park Hyo Shin, Ailee, Chen, Park Won etc. They sing ballads mostly. For old kpop I recommend SHINEE, Super Junior, Girls Generation, TVXQ, Exo’s older songs, Big Bang, K.will (‘Please don’t’ is iconic), Shinhwa, DBSK, JYJ (‘In Heaven’ takes me back), etc. I promise you’ll eventually fall into a rabbit hole of music. Don’t force yourself into it :)
