Now, putting a foot aside. Hmmm. I’m thinking of idioms that pertain to feet.
If I put my foot down, this implies that I am done playing. I’m pissed off and I’m not changing my mind.
If I put my foot in my mouth, I’ve said something embarrassing and or stupid.
For aside, you could say he stepped aside and declined to make a decision.
