Hey! I have a question. When first meeting my friend's parents, would it be right to call them '아버님' and '어머님'? Is there a better way to call them, or is this okay?

it's really good question.
we call them 아버지 and 어머니 when they are parents of friend who is really close with
and teenagers call them 아저씨 and 아줌마, or informally.
more mature adults call them 아버님 and 어머님

but anything will do, i guess.

I usually call them 아저씨, 아주머니. 아버님&어머님 feels like they are my parents in law. 🤔 Maybe other people might have different opinions.

@voru97 Ahh, thank you so much for your answer! The friend I'm talking about is my best friend, so I'm very close to her, but it's my first time meeting her parents and I want to make a good impression on them—especially since I'm a foreigner. Do you think it would be all right to call them 아버지 and 어머니 without sounding rude?

it really depends on whom you're saying to, even for koreans speaking to koreans.
Siwol's opinion is also reasonable.
i think you'd be better ask your best friend for her choice :)
