Imagine your father is going to buy you the PS5. However, he thinks that you prefer XBOX. And he says: "My son prefers XBOX rather than PS5".
Can you say to your father this? "I don't prefer XBOX, I prefer PS5"?

It's not common. It's better to say "I'm not a [big] fan of..."
