Is the expression"if you are right or not" correct？I noticed it on BBC Learning English program. However, according to grammar rules, it is "whether" that should be followed by "or not" instead of "if". Quite confused now.

In the US most people would use “if,” but either one is correct. Some would say that using “whether” is more correct, so it’s not surprising that the British would use that more.
