I wonder why Taiwanese people don't hate Japan so much although Japan colonised Taiwan until the world war 2 ended. South Korea still hates Japan so much because Japan colonised South Korea. Could you tell me why Taiwanese people don't hate Japan so much?

Maybe compare to the late CKSs(Chiang Kai Shek)party colonized in Taiwan, Japan government is kind and ability. You're just lucky to got the chance.

@waraou No, you as a foreigner get it wrong. Chiang authority didn’t praise Japan in the books. After Japanese colonial, Taiwanese found KMT in Taiwan was even worse. Most people start to think Japanese period is far more better than Chiang KMT.

@waraou Didn’t I just say?? Chiang KMT was awful so that Taiwanese thought Japanese colonial period was better. I just tell the truth I don’t even mention any politics.

@waraou uh-huh yep that as you Chinese are foreigners. You come to here the question is about Taiwan, so I think you can peacefully accept that. The asker asked about why Taiwanese like Japan so I would only answer about that.

Although both Taiwan and South Korea were colonized by Japan, their development and social culture are very different. For Korea, to be colonized by Japan is to lose the whole country; For Taiwan, it was a province ceded to Japan by China. So people in the two countries have different feelings about being ruled.

This also caused the two governments to have very different attitudes towards the colonists. I have no way to determine the situation of the South Korean government at that time, but the Taiwan Government took a positive attitude towards Japan's construction in Taiwan.

But there are many reasons that are hard to put into words. I can only give you an objective view from a historical perspective.
