A day trip to London
On the early morning we took the train at 8 sharp in Reading's train station. On the way there, i grabbed my London guidebook to see how to get to the city's most popular spots. After an hour, we turned up in London. First, we went to the Backingham Palace. Luckly we arrived on time to see the changing of the guard. That was marvelous! Also the Palace's parks are outstanding. Then, we walked through Birdcage Walk to the Big Ben. You can see the River Thames from there. We took advantage of our splending view for taking a brunch since i got peckish and so did my friend. I had the opportunity to take stunning pictures of the Thames from where we were. After that, we took a guided tour at the British museum and then, at the Sherlock Holmes museum. I'm a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes so that was a mandatory visit for me.
Several hours afterward, we set off at 7 pm back to Leading. London is definitely one of my favourite cities of the world.

We tend to walk "through" something that encompasses or surrounds us - a wood, a park, a forest - and "along" a road or street.

A nice text. I have made a few suggestions and have corrected a few things (see the text in brackets for an explanation).
A Day Trip to London (use capital letters for the main words of a title)
One morning, we caught a train at 8am at Reading Station. (we don't use X's station - we just use X in front of the station name).
On the way there, I grabbed my London guidebook to see how to get to the city's most popular spots.
After an hour, we arrived in London. First, we went to Buckingham Palace (for buildings which don't have "the" in the title, just use the name). Luckily we arrived in time to see the "Changing of the Guard" ceremony (better to phrase this in this way). That was marvellous! The Palace's parks are outstanding (best to avoid keep adding words like then, also...). We walked along Birdcage Walk to see Big Ben (again no "the" - and actually Big Ben is the bell - what you are seeing is the Elizabeth Tower, but everyone calls it Big Ben!...). You can see the River Thames from there. We took advantage of our splendid view to have (better than for taking) a brunch since I was peckish and so was my friend. I had the opportunity to take stunning pictures of the Thames from where we were. After that, we took a guided tour at the British Museum and then at the Sherlock Holmes museum. I'm a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes so that was a mandatory visit for me.
Several hours afterward, we set off, at 7pm, back to Reading. London is definitely one of my favourite cities of the world.
