I spend my free time by myself or with my friends. A couple of days ago I was playing football and playing music with them.
Because "playing" a game and "playing" music are two different uses of "playing," you have to write "playing" twice.
You can say
We were playing football and tennis.
or
We were playing guitar and piano.
But you must say
We were playing football and playing piano.
