"Mind" is a tricky word to translate to German. Depending on the context, you could translate it as "der Geist" (the mind as opposed to the body or the soul, the intellectual part of a person), "das Denken"/"die Denkweise" (the way of thinking), "die Gedanken" (the thoughts), for example.
Your second attempt sounds good, I'd make some changes:
Ich möchte mich in Gedanken auf einen weiteren Tag einstellen.
Note: This adds something as opposed to the English sentence - "another day", "a further day".

Vielen Danke. I understand words describing mind and thoughts are not so straight forward. is this kind of saying, "I would like to 'in my thoughts' prepare for the day"?

Ich möchte mich gedanklich auf den Tag vorbereiten.
Ich möchte meinen Geist auf den Tag vorbereiten. (this sounds a little highfalutin)
Ich möchte meine Gedanken auf den Tag vorbereiten.
