I think I met an annoying boomer in Canada .. Or you guys think it's just a normal elderly people's behavior to far younger people than themselves ?
Anyway, I took the flight (Aircanada) and I asked her "Can I borrow a pen please?" cuz I had to fill in the paper about the covid symptoms to submit at Korean airport, and she said "You should never take the flight without a pen!".
Well, her tone sounded like my grandmother to me. not so rude but I think it's inappropriate. And I was dumbfounded, so I said " oh.. ok sorry" and she said "Didn't your mom tell you that?" I didn't what to respond to that ahahaha . I was like "???" and she started laughing like she made a joke and said "I will bring you the pen. wait a second " . But!! she gave me the pen saying "Just keep the pen. you don't need to give me back". And I thought she is not that bad person (cuz her saying upset me earlier haha) and I just said "thank you".

Anyway , how you guys think about her sayings ?? I think preaching to the customer saying "you should never forget the pen.." is really inappropriate.
From my prospectives, I think it was such Karen boomer. (or maybe racist too?idk). I've never experienced such flight attendant in my life. They are supposed to be nice and professional especially I personally think..
Honestly I've encountered more boomers like her in Canada.. They are in similar age and similar voice and behavior ..amazing. I really wanna know Canadians thinking too ahahaha

@callmeJenny That does sound rude, but it also seems like boomer humor, I think she was being sarcastic at first and thought she was being funny.
Unfortunately not a lot of people in the west are aware that sarcasm isn't universal so they end up looking like jerks without knowing.

@callmeJenny it's not really because boomers think highly of themselves, they're just out of touch with modern mannerisms so they come across as rude by accident, just keep in mind they mean no harm they are just uneducated.
Younger generations still say sarcastic things but usually it's among friends and people they know because they know their friends will understand that they are just teasing.
and yes boomer humor is very annoying I agree. 😅

@kuzzy wow... thank u so much!! It seems that boomers are same in every country LOLLLL. But I think Canadian boomers sometimes can be more annoying at some points haha cuz they are casual even though they are the employee and I'm the customer.. 😭🤣🤣🏵️

@callmeJenny Canada is an egalitarian country, employers, customers and employees are all treated as equals here so they would all talk to each other with the same casualness. 😊

I think she was trying to be friendly! I don't think a young person would use the same humour, but it's not uncommon for older people to scold in a teasing manner. Usually they mean well.
