What do japanese people think about foreigners who have japanese tattoos? like something written in japanese or whatever

I think it's OK as long as it's just beautiful graphic in Japanese style.
But if they are letters, they look funny for 2 reasons.

1. They are often wrong. I wonder how they could order tattoo at untrustworthy salon.

2. Even if they are grammatically correct, since letters are not common object to get tattooed, they look funny to me.
Probably it looks funny when the letters are too plain and too easy to read.
If I were to get tattoo in Japanese letters, which I would never though, I would choose those in ancient or well-designed style which are not too readable.
