I think if you're referring to a person, slim is more natural

Thin might sound a little sickly

Sounds natural. But there's a little nuance between the two. "Slim" has a possitive connotation.

Both natural, but the feelings of the two statements are different, I think.
#1. Is a simple statement of her appearance. (She’s very slim, but her sister is not. She’s very slim, she could be a model.)
#2. Could mean that she’s so thin that she looks sick. (Maybe she follows such a severe diet that she doesn’t look healthy )
I think to be slim is considered a good thing (She’s not overweight)
To be thin not considered to be good..(She’s been starving herself, and now she’s too thin...)
I think that’s the difference.
