This is a really good start. Remember in English GI=J (justify).
The first sentence is too long. I would break it up like this, '...what's right. Therefore, if...' Also I would reword the next sentence. Therefore, if you're a child growing up in a household where things like violence and abuse are normal it is really easy to make bad choices and become (violent themselves, troubled, something better than not the best person) We would not say 'not the best person' in this context. It sounds a little unnatural. Then I would make a third sentence about getting help or not.
All the content is great. We just prefer more short sentences instead of one long run on sentence.
