If they understand each other well, then why not. But yeah sometimes parents oppose their marriage. However Indians like marrying foreigners if they find each other compatible.

I've met few Indians in different countries and who come from different social status, and it seems they take into account harmony in family and the pressure from society more than their personal feeling of love. In other words, they'd rather follow parents' suggestion to marry someone arranged by parents, instead putting effort to make parents and family to accept the one they choose. It seems that it's already complicated to marry someone who come from different class as yours, not to mention that marrying a foreigner who might even not speak your mother tongue, isn't it?

@chaiaulait See the thing is these caste, social status and religion beliefs in indian people are so deep rooted that we can't even blame our parents. Its difficult to change thinking of everybody as you know India is such a big country. However things are changing. Inter caste marriages, inter racial marriages are also taking place these days. Definitely the ratio is changing if you see the stats. However it will take time to completely disappear.
Class and status doesn't matter much these days. (not everywhere in India)
But yeah language is a problem.
Since we live with our parents even after marriage so its necessary to have a common language so that people can communicate and build relationships among each other.
for example-
just imagine
I am a boy and you are a girl
we married each other. Being my wife you have to stay with my family? (We usually don't separate from our families even after marriage like other foreign countries)
So since you have to stay with my family, but my parents doesn't speak English.
Do you think you'll be able to adjust with them?
similarly if i am your wife and i don't speak Chinese and your parents speak Chinese only. Don't you think it will be hard for me to adjust with your family? My parents will definitely worry about marrying me to you thinking of culture difference and language a big barrier and how it might create problems in our relationship.
For us marriage families are very important. Its just not You and Me but we have to take care of our families, our parents.
But i think if both of us learn each other's language and culture then they will somehow accept our relationship more easily.
I am sorry i am too bad at explaining things but i hope you could get a little bit of what i am trying to say. 🙈

@chaiaulait yah! it depends on the family and the society from he/she is coming, if they are open minded people then there is no problem. and if it's true love then the true Indian can go to any level(extent) for convincing there parents.😊

BTW, I've even heard some stories like one Indian went to foreign country and then married local person, but never tell it to their parents in India...😱

@chaiaulait There are few cases like this. Some even marry them for Green card and permanent visa. I really don't understand this myself and really hate this so i can't speak much or defend people of my country on this topic.

I think most of us don't because of the reasons others have mentioned. I personally believe anyone can marry anybody else irrespective of race, religion, caste, region, nationality etc.

It depends completely on how exposed the Indian has been to foreigners. Since I grew up outside of India, in a multi-cultural environment, I wouldn't mind at all. Nearly all the people I've dated have been non-Indians. Probably because I don't care about nationality, but more about the personality.
