「末」はend/tipという意味を持っていると読みましたが、
「最後」とどう違いますか？　末はどういう「end」を示しますか？ end of the branch, end of the year?, etc

月末　　The end of the month
年末　　end of year

・末
まだ続きがある場合や
時期の終わりを表現するときによく使います。
先端（tip）の意味もありますが
会話で使うことは少ないです。（ほぼありません）

4月の末（End of the April）
→5月6月と、時間は流れます。

末っ子（the youngest）
→子供が産まれ、血は引き継がれます。

世紀末（End of the century）
→新しい世紀が始まります。


・最後
物事の終わりを指します。
その続きは、もうありません。
LastやFinalに近い言葉だと思います。

最後通告（Ultimatum）
最後の戦い（The Final Battle）
学生生活の最後を飾る（A final touch to student life）
最後の晩餐（last supper）

end of the branchは枝の先、枝の先端という言い方なので「末」は使いません。
学期末　The end of the semester
世紀末　End of the century

来月末　End of next month
末期の患者　End-stage patients
