When you are really crazy about someone or something, you would say "I'm team XX!" Right? I am confused, whether I can use this expression when there is no other fan group supposed, that is, "I'm team Timothée Chalamet! He is superbe! I have watched every movie and TV show he is in." or should I use this expression, like "As for guys from Game of Thrones, I'm team Jon Snow, but I know you are Team Theon" ?
I would also like to know whether this word can be used regardless of gender, or just for male?

Yeah, it’s just another way to say “I support XXX” or “I like XXX” and usually there will be someone/something to compare to your choice.
And no, you can use that kind of expression for everything!
Example:
[About Frozen] I’m team Anna!!
[About True Beauty] I’m team Seojun!!
[About this dress] I’m team white and gold!!

In the fandom community, the term "Team _" usually means the fans that want a particular character to be romantically paired with the main character. The fandom that created the term was the Twilight fandom, with "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob."
A broader term for fans desiring or writing fan fiction about two characters becoming a couple is "shipping" and the desired couple is called a "ship" (short for "relationship.")
If you simply like a character, you could just say "Theon is my favorite" or "I'm a Theon fan. "Stan" is a more intense and derogatory term for an extremely devoted fan, short for "stalker fan." If you want to be romantically involved with a fictional character yourself, that character is your "waifu" or "husbando," which is based on Japanese transliterations of "wife" and "husband." I think "waifu" is a reference to a scene in Azumanga Daioh

Thank you for explaining in detail! That makes sense! I didn't know this word was originated from Twilight.
"Stan," "waifu," or "husbando"... are they widely used? Or are they fandom term?

@jete_et_jete They are slang associated with fandom culture, so I guess they're not very widely used
