There has been a lot of public discussion on whether or not enough is being done to protect the world’s wilderness areas. I believe human beings have started various things to protect such areas for the following reasons.
First, most governments prohibit companies from dumping trash into the sea. In the past, most countries sis not have a law to restrict companies to throw out their trash into the sea since governments valued industrialization over environmental protection, which cause a lot of extinction of fish and sea animals. In order to prevent this situation, these days, many countries set the law that dumping trash into the sea is illegal.
Second, governments are also addressing deforestation. By increasing world’s population, human beings have cut a myriad of trees to get their habitat, which deprived animals of their natural habitat and caused deforestation. Recently, people realize it is not good for wilderness areas, and have started planting trees to such place.

I believe people have started taking positive steps towards protecting the environment for the following reasons.

First, most governments now prohibit companies from dumping trash into our ocean waters. In the past, most countries did not have laws restricting companies from throwing trash into the oceans since they valued (or prioritized) industrialization over environmental protection, causing a lot of extinction of fish and other marine life. In order to prevent this situation, many countries have now established laws which illegalize the dumping of trash into our oceans.

Second, governments are also addressing deforestation. By increasing the world’s population, human beings have cut a myriad of trees for their own purposes, depriving animals of their natural habitats. People are becoming increasingly aware of the negative impact of deforestation on our environment and have started replanting trees to these areas.

I suggest 'oceans' instead of 'sea' since oceans are typically considered larger bodies of water. In the US we usually discuss this environmental issue with the word ocean.

I changed human beings cutting trees for their 'habitats' to 'purposes' because the word habitat was used twice in the same sentence, but more importantly, because we cut trees for far more than just our homes. It's cut for fuel, paper, all sorts of daily products like waribashi, etc... all contributing to the problem of deforestation and global warming, climate change, etc...
