Nakayama Shichiri is a valley in the middle of the Hida River in Gifu Prefecture.
It is 28-kilometer-long valley that runs from Taiunkyo in Sanbara, Gero City to Sakaibashi in Kanayama, Kanayama-town, along the middle stream of the Hida River, a tributary of the Kiso River that flows through Gero City, Gifu Prefecture.
The valley was created by the Hida River eroding steep mountains, and is enjoyed with many strange rocks and monster stones, cherry blossoms and rock azaleas in spring, fireflies in summer, and colourful leaves in autumn.
It is famous for its "Baifu-iwa", "Rakan-iwa", "Takakoga-ike", and "Ougi-iwa".

The nearby Shimohara Dam constantly discharges water to protect the landscape of this valley. In addition to being designated as part of the Hida Kisogawa National Monument, it has also been selected as one of the 33 Hida / Mino Autumn Leaves.
