Hello everyone, I'm from Iran and my major is nursing, I was wondering if I emigrate to Canada, can I be an English teacher?
I'm not a native English speaker but I like this job and I think I can teach basic and elementary learners .
do you think it's easy for me to be a teacher?
and do the institutes need me or do they recruit me ? what degree should I have?

I'm confused about my future (in order to be a nurse in Canada I have to study 2 years ) but my favourite job is being a teacher(unfortunately I don't have any degree in this field).

This is what this website: https://work.chron.com/become-elementary-teacher-canada-11069.html says: "To become a teacher in Canada, you must first complete a bachelor of education degree or a bachelor's degree in an academic subject with an additional education certification."

You will probably have to prove your proficiency in either English or French when trying to get into university. I know some universities set minimum IELTS scores for admission (usually minimum score of 6 or 6.5) though there can be exemptions or alternatives.

Another website you might want to check is: https://alis.alberta.ca/ 
In the website it says that "In Alberta, the minimum qualification required to teach in an elementary school is 4 years of post-secondary education leading to a bachelor of education (B.Ed.) degree."

^It is Alberta specific though so if anyone else wants to chime in and add more resources please do so :)

@samira_h Oh did you mean english tutor? In that case you'll probably have to rely on self marketing. There are tutoring companies but they'll probably require a teaching license and some sort of degree. I'm not too knowledgeable on this so I'd recommend doing some more research.

The only other thing I can think of is being an ESL teacher (teaching english to non-native speakers) but you'll still need a bachelor's of education and a TESL/TESOL.
