Lack basically means "Not having"
(Deficiency of or Absence of)
i.e:
1.) I worked on my essay the whole night and now i'm lacking sleep.
2.) I've been practicing this instrument but still lack the skills to play it properly.
3.)Lynnil lacked the support to continue sitting as the president for next year.
