What's the proper preposition: hints on/for?
The type of sentence I want to use it in:
"There are no clear hints on/for another person."
(No hints exist that would make this clear: There is another person.)

Or should I maybe go for a different phrasing entirely - "There are no clear hints pointing toward another person" or so?

"There are no clear hints pointing toward another person" or "There are no clear hints of another person." I would need more context to be sure, though. Depending on what you're trying to say, "clues" could be a better word than "hints," for example. It may also be better to say "There is no indication anyone else is involved. Again, depending on the full context.

@blippityblop Riiiight, clues point to things being the case. Yes, that's what I meant, traces or anything else that shows that another person is involved or even exists in the first place to be able to be involved.
