It sounds natural, however it's a little unclear about the games. You played games with other kids in which you pretended to be a teacher? Was that the main game, playing the role of teacher?

Ah, I see where I got a little confused. The sentence is actually good. I would just drop a few words here & there. When I see "playing the role of teacher", I immediately think of an actor in a movie.
Here's how I might write it:
"When I was a child, playing teacher with kids in neighborhood games brought me great happiness"
