In this paragraph, the term water pollution will be defined and pollution reduction measures will be discussed.

Water pollution refers to the release of substances into bodies of water making them unsafe for human use and disrupting aquatic ecosystems.

Water pollution adversely affects the health and life of man, animals and plants alike.

The chart above shows that 10% of pollutants entering the oceans come from industrial wastewater.
Chemicals and heavy metals from industrial wastewater contaminate waterways.
These pollutants are toxic to aquatic organisms and most of them reduce the lifespan and reproductive ability of organisms.

If we had been vigilant in reducing water pollution, the problems would not have become so serious.

Therefore, we need to be vigilant at both the individual level and the societal level to reduce water pollution.

Individually, we should not dispose of household chemicals or cleaning agents down the sink or toilet.
