わたしは、ろっかげつずっと、にほんごをべんきょうしてきた。
watashi-wa, kokkagetsu zutto, nihongo-o benkyou-shitekita.

私は、6か月ずっと、日本語を勉強しています is also natural.
The tense of your original sentence is present perfect continuous.
Maybe you know, Japanese dosn't have perfect tense.
So, to describe perfect tense or present perfect continuous tense in Japanese, we use a lot of ways.
～してきた is one of them, which means to overcome many problems and consequently acquired somthing.
～している or ～しています can also describe present perfect or present perfect continuous, when they come with ずっと.
If they don't have ずっと, they only means present continuous.
私は、6か月、日本語を勉強しています。 this means "I am studying Japanese for 6 months."
I think ずっとis a vital word to make perfect or perfect continuous tense.
For your information, I'll show you other examples of perfect tense in Japanese:
～したことがある, which means experience
私はイスタンブールに行ったことがある。
I've been to Istanbul.
～してしまった, which means result and regret
私は腕時計をなくしてしまった。（その結果今は持っていない）
～した, which is in just past tense, however Japanese past tense sometimes means perfect tense.
I've lost my watch.
彼女は既に東京へ行った。
She has gone to Tokyo.
