‎I've known 'rather than' is for emphasis the word comes before that.
For example, he wanted to be an actor rather than a comedian.

When i searched up the meaning of misadventure the meaning is "death caused by accident, rather than as a result of a crime."
I don't get it rather than from this sentence. Could you help me understaning the meaning of rather than from this sentence? It seems it does not have same meaning as i know.
