Would a native English speaker say "It is now two weeks that he has been ill" (after the Italian fashion) or the only right way of saying that is "he has been ill for two weeks now"?

I do think most native speakers would say it the second way in a conversation. You could also say "It is now two weeks since he has been ill", but this comes across as more formal.

Yes, it does, thank you :) so I get that the wrong part is "that", isn't it? Is it truly an error to say it that way or just a thing you're very little likely to hear from a native speaker?

@Frozen_monkey using "that" in this case sounds like Victorian English, so not modern English. Even then it only sounds natural as Victoriam English if you say it with the correct Victorian intonation.

Ahahah ok thank you, maybe I should ask myself if I belong in this century :) as a matter of fact, my second question was just out of curiosity, because using "that" is what would come of a direct translation from the Italian language - something I could happen to do if talking without paying due attention
