I was wondering if it's hard being a vegan in Korea, and what do Koreans think about vegans and vegetarians? (since I have heard Koreans love their meat)

I know Megan, Chonomiguksaram is vegan and she does pretty well. As I understand it there are lots of food with meat but just as many that are all plant based.

I disagree with the above. It's extremely difficult to be vegan/vegetarian in Korea. You have limited choice first of all, and although there are growing number of vegan-catered restaurants (very slowly), most out there are not. One time, my cousin-in-law visited and he had to eat bibimbap without soy sauce instead of the red pepper paste because the ingredient contained a bit of beef. Not many restaurants, especially traditional restaurants that serve Korean food, will not and/or cannot cater to individual customers' needs. You can ask them to put less or omit some of the toppings, but the base cannot be altered. For example, soups, or side-dishes. Anyway, the reason being that Korean cuisine/dining culture is unsuitable for vegan/vegetarians is that a) we do not have the dining culture of customization, b) not many are vegan/vegetarian. You're best bet is to bring your own food to work, or take out salads. On the bright side, we offer lots of side-dishes made with vegetables. However, the marination that goes with it may make the dish no longer vegan/vegetarian-friendly. This is just my personal opinion, hope this helps :)
