Are you referring to the subtitles?

She is saying, "now is not a good a time and I have people over"
"Kind of" means "to some extent" or "somewhat." It's used for sarcasm, comedic purposes, or in some case to gently turn someone's offer down.
For example: if someone ask you to hang out with them, you can say "I'm kind of busy" to turn them down.

I'm assuming Max is the person in bed alone. Max is making an excuse to keep Caroline from coming over so Max can continue to sleep in.
