One other question, I've heard it's possible to use US dollars there? Is it better to bring those or sol? Are credit cards widely accepted? (sorry if this is a stupid question, but it is diffucult to find information online)

@ered Despite most of Peruvians are kind, he has to be aware when he'll get services like hotels, taxis, trains or just buy something because of people who understand he's foreign would try to ask him more money than it takes usually because he's a "gringo"
Pay attention to that!

@ered Yes, he can use US dollars but usually they try to charge some expenses on the transaction so I think is better if he will bring half Peruvian money and half US dollars. A lot of shops accept credit cards but not everywhere he has to bring some cash with him.
And don't be afraid to ask anything because no question could be stupid here ;)

Actually no, ered. But you can practice some phrases... It also depends where city you are going to... but mostly no. BUT, on the silver line , people here are so friendly and willing to help that it won't be a problem. I assure you 😊

I think many people can speak English nowdays.. at least in a Basic level overall young people . but as others said it is a good advice that your fiance learn some common phrases like: Hola! ¿puedes ayudarme? ¿ cómo llego a esta dirección? Gracias! ¿cuánto cuesta esto? etc and even peruvians are kind people, he has to be. careful because there are some bad people who can try to deceive him just because he looks as a foreigner.
